My wife's great grandmother Elizabeth Jones was the sister of the preacher Robert
Jones, born in Dolwenith, Llanllyfni in 1806. She married
and moved to Penmaenmawr and died there in 1899. They
had at least 7 siblings. We know that Robert's daughter
Ann Owen, Ochr y Foel, had only one child who died
young. Another brother, whose name in not known, died
age 22. We would be very grateful for any information
relating to the other brothers and sisters and their
descendants and hope that there are still relatives
living in the area.
Their names and approximate dates of birth etc. are
as follows:-
Female (possibly Elinor or Ellen - may have emigrated),
Evan (b.1811, d. Penmaenmawr 1856), Jane (b.1815, d.
Penmaenmawr), John (b. 1819, d. Yr Hendre, Llanllyfni),
David (b.1825, d. Rhosyrunman, Llanllyfni, 1903) and
William (b.1827, d. Cochybig, Llanllyfni).
This generation were given the surname Jones, but their
parents were John and Mary Evans of Dolwenith, Llanllyfni.
We believe that all but Robert were born in Cae'r Waen,
Llanllyfni. We would also like to know where Dolwenith,
Cae'r Waen and Ochr y Foel are (or were) if anyone
can tell us.
